Welcome to learning a little more about The Heights P-12 School.
Let me provide you a brief summary about out school and if this gains your interest I invite you to look further.
The Heights P-12 School caters for the education and wellbeing for children and students from the age of 4 to 18 years. We currently have over 1200 students throughout our Preschool, Junior School, Middle School and Senior School. This provides the opportunity for us to operate as a large family of learners recognising the development stages of growth that are reflected in the sub school structure of the school.
Our vision gives a good understanding about what we do well and where we are headed:
Our greatest strength as a Preschool to Year 12 community is the way we create the complete environment that nurtures and guides learners from early childhood through to adulthood. While we are aspiring to grow rapidly and improve in key areas, we will never lose sight of the things we have done well at The Heights such as providing a caring environment where students know they belong.
Our vision is The Heights will be a leading P-12 school in the North Eastern Region, a school of choice for families based on academic excellence reflected in consistently outstanding SACE results, and literacy and numeracy improvement data. Through our professional learning and by focussing on the most promising teaching and learning practices we will ensure excellence in high quality teaching in every classroom.
We are one of three Specialist Ignite Schools in the State benefitting from additional resources to provide a program of learning for gifted and talented learners. Advanced Pathways in Maths, Science and Technology will be a further defining feature of The Heights through our STEM and Defence Industries Program.
The Defence Industries Pathways Program introduced in 2015 provided over $400000 to promote high level maths, science and technology learning and awareness raising of skills are applicable to employment in the ever growing defence industry skills sector.
In 2016 it has been announced The Heights will receive $3.5 million to improve our STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths facilities).
Exciting times at The Heights!
